The Canada-Pakistan Business Council hosted a sumptuous dinner for the incoming senior civil servants from Pakistan who are under training at the National School of Public Policy, an elite institution, which imparts training to the civil servants at the senior most level in the Federal and Provincial Governments. In addition to the above guests, the dinner was largely attended by the visiting former Minister and Member of Parliament Mr. Haleem Siddiqui, Vice Consul Asim Ali Khan, former Ambassador Mr.Naeem Hasan, Mr.Farooque Dawood, Chairman of Dafina Holdings, Mr. Imtiaz Seyid, V.P. RBC, Mr. Syed Shah, Chairman of Sasco Global Investment, Mr. Sajjad Ebrahim, Chairman of Par-Pak, Ms.Faiza Batta,COO of Oikos International and many other leaders as well as the movers and shakers of the community. Andy Merchant, President of CPBC welcomed the guests and briefed them on the current opportunities for Pakistani businessmen in Canada and later presented a memento to Mr. Naeem Aslam, leader of the delegation.

Ontario Attorney General Chris Bentley met with the Hon. Dr. Farooq Sattar, Pakistan's Minister Responsible for Overseas Pakistanis. Also attending the meeting were Mr. Sahebzada A. Khan (Consul General of Pakistan in Toronto) and Mr. Sayed Akbar Adil Shah (Consul for Pakistan in Toronto). The ministers discussed issues of importance relating to Ontario's vibrant Pakistani community.


Diwali At Queens Park

Toronto: The Honourable Harinder Takhar, Minister of Government Services and MPP for Mississauga-Erindale joined with the Premier of Ontario, Dalton McGuinty, Consul General of India Preeti Saran, other MPPs and members of the South Asian community for a special Diwali reception at the Ontario Legislature.
The reception has become an annual event with member of the community who join together with the Government of Ontario to mark the auspicious occasion of Diwali. Minister Takhar spoke of the different meanings that Diwali has to people from the various regions and religions of South Asia. "Diwali is an important time to celebrate our culture and also how far we have come as a community in Ontario," said Takhar before going on to recognize some of the accomplished community members in attendance.
Premier McGuinty spoke of the universal message of 'light over darkness' that comes from Diwali and both Minister Takhar. the Premier and other guests participated in a ceremonial lighting of a diva before enjoying some traditional Diwali sweets.


KC Group presented Diwali Dhmaka 2009 at Mississauga Versailles Convention Centre on October 9th. The colorful spectacular show was witnessed by the crowd of over 300 who enjoyed the evening that featured Bollywood entertainment , Dandia dance and an eye-catching presentation of Ram Seeta Lakshman Darshan performed by young children. KC Group is a non-profit organization focused towards community events, youth programs, early settlements of new immigrants.
