Nissan has revealed the next generation Nissan Rogue for the 2027 model year, highlighting a redesigned exterior and a new hybrid powertrain that marks the first U.S. application of the company’s E-Power system. The updated model signals Nissan’s strategy to compete more directly with leading compact hybrid SUVs such as the Honda CR‑V and Toyota RAV4.
The most significant change is the introduction of the E-Power hybrid setup, which differs from conventional hybrid systems by using electric motors alone to drive the wheels. In this configuration, a gasoline engine functions only as a generator that charges the battery rather than directly powering the vehicle. Although the system does not support plug-in charging, it is designed to deliver smooth acceleration similar to a fully electric vehicle while maintaining the convenience of gasoline refueling.
Nissan confirmed that the new Rogue Hybrid will feature all wheel drive through a dual motor configuration, with one electric motor powering the front wheels and another powering the rear. While detailed performance specifications have not yet been released, early versions of the E-Power technology tested in Europe demonstrated quiet operation and responsive performance. The U.S. version is expected to offer increased power compared with earlier international models.
Exterior styling updates include redesigned headlights integrated into the front grille and new tail light elements that connect visually with the rear pillar design. Although interior images have not yet been released, the vehicle is expected to retain a two row layout with seating for five passengers along with larger infotainment displays and upgraded cabin technology.
Reports suggest the hybrid version will be the primary focus at launch, with the outgoing gasoline powered Rogue continuing temporarily alongside the new generation model. A conventional gasoline version of the redesigned Rogue is expected to follow later. Nissan anticipates the hybrid variant will account for the majority of future Rogue sales as the company strengthens its position in the growing hybrid SUV segment ahead of the vehicle’s expected showroom arrival later this year.
