Subaru is preparing to expand its electric lineup with the all-new Subaru Getaway, a three-row family SUV that combines strong performance with practical space and modern EV capability. Designed as part of the company’s ongoing partnership with Toyota, the new model shares much of its structure with Toyota’s electric three-row platform but distinguishes itself through higher output and Subaru-specific design features.
Visually, the Getaway closely resembles its Toyota counterpart in body structure, though Subaru introduces signature styling touches such as six-element LED accent lighting that indicates charging status. Rear lighting details and exterior trim also help separate the two vehicles. Buyers will additionally see unique paint choices and stronger roof rail load capacity, reflecting Subaru’s traditional appeal to adventure-oriented drivers.
Inside the cabin, the Getaway offers seating for six or seven passengers and includes a 14-inch central touchscreen paired with a 12.3-inch digital driver display. Subaru adds practical upgrades such as standard power-folding third-row seats and available leather upholstery, while passengers across all rows benefit from vents, USB ports, and overhead lighting. A full suite of driver assistance technologies including adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking also comes standard.
Performance is where the Getaway stands apart most clearly. Unlike its Toyota counterpart, which offers multiple power levels starting at 221 horsepower, the Subaru launches exclusively with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing approximately 420 horsepower. This setup delivers balanced AWD capability consistent with Subaru’s brand identity and is expected to push the SUV from zero to 60 mph in under five seconds, making it the most powerful production Subaru currently planned.
Power comes from a 95.8-kWh battery providing an estimated driving range just above 300 miles, along with access to Tesla Supercharger stations through a built-in NACS charging port. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes roughly 30 minutes under ideal conditions. Expected to arrive in late 2026 with pricing starting in the low $60,000 range, the Getaway positions itself as a spacious and performance-oriented electric alternative for families seeking a capable three-row SUV in the evolving EV market.
