Representatives from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ caucus of big city mayors hold a news conference in Ottawa. Taking part in the event are Mike Savage, the mayor of Halifax and chair of the caucus, and Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin, the mayor of Gatineau. Following the news conference, the caucus will meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc to discuss key priorities for municipalities, which include increasing funding for transit as cities cope with shortfalls caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and addressing the affordable housing shortage.
