Peshawar: There has been a huge explosion in the Police Line Mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan.
News agency ANI has confirmed this news with reference to Pakistani channel Geo News. According to Geo News, the blast took place during prayers in a mosque located in the Police Line area of Peshawar, Pakistan. A suicide bomber blew himself up after Zohar prayers, injuring at least 90 people. According to the newspaper Dawn of Pakistan, the explosion took place in the afternoon in the police line area of Peshawar. The blast took place in a mosque, in which at least 90 people are reported to have been injured. Meanwhile, a police officer Sikandar Khan said that the explosion was so powerful that a part of the building collapsed and many people are feared to be buried under it. According to Mohammad Asim, spokesperson of Lady Reading Hospital (LRC), the injured are being taken to the hospital.
Asim told Pakistani newspaper Dawn that the area has been completely sealed off and only ambulances are being allowed to enter the area. Media reports said that the blast occurred at around 1:40 pm, when Zuhr prayers were being offered. It may be mentioned that a similar incident took place in Peshawar last year too, when 63 people died in a suicide blast inside a Shia mosque in Kocha Risaldar area of Peshawar.
