Province Approves Retrofit to Brandon Gate Public School
As part of Ontario’s ongoing efforts to build and improve local schools, the province has given Peel District School Board approval to proceed to tender a major retrofit to Brandon Gate Public School.
The $860,000 investment will improve the learning environment for the students of
Mississauga. This project is part of the province’s capital investment program to support
students with better learning spaces.
“The funding for the retrofit to Brandon Gate Public School is great news for our
community,” said MPP Deepak Anand, MPP for Mississauga—Malton. “This investment will
provide a quality learning environment and new opportunities for the children of
Mississauga.”
Ontario’s investment in new and updated schools will create the foundation for a modern
learning environment for hundreds of students across the province.
“From modernizing our curriculum to revitalizing our classrooms and their facilities, we are
investing in our students and giving them every tool to achieve their full potential,” said
Education Minister Stephen Lecce. “Progress towards the construction of the retrofit to
Brandon Gate Public School further demonstrates our government’s historic investment in
Ontario’s schools and our overall commitment to supporting our students and families.”
Highlights of the retrofit include space for 78 full-day Kindergarten students.
“Starting school is a big step and an exciting time for families. Each year, staff look forward
to welcoming new kindergarten students and families into schools for the first time and
sharing with them the great adventures coming their way,” says Colleen Russell-Rawlins,
interim director of education at the Peel District School Board. “This funding will help
expand the full-day kindergarten program at Brandon Gate and create space for an
additional 78 students to play, wonder and learn in kindergarten—right in their backyard—at a neighbourhood school.” Brandon Gate Public School is located at 3800 Brandon Gate Drive in Mississauga.
