Aamir Khan has officially put an end to speculation about his retirement, confirming that his much-anticipated film Mahabharata will not be his last. Speaking during a candid segment on Zoom’s Fan Club, the Bollywood actor clarified remarks that had sparked widespread confusion online. Fans were left wondering whether Khan was planning to step away from acting after completing his dream project, but the actor insists those assumptions were based on a misinterpretation.

The controversy began after Aamir’s appearance on a podcast, where he was asked which film he would choose if he could only do one final project. His choice of Mahabharata led many to wrongly believe that he was announcing his retirement. Addressing the issue, Aamir said, “Mahabharata is not going to be my last film. People misunderstood the context. I never said I’m retiring.” He emphasized that he was simply reflecting on the emotional and artistic significance of the epic, not making a career-ending statement.

Khan further explained that the central word in the question was “if,” and his answer was entirely hypothetical. “I said if I had to do just one film before retiring, I would choose Mahabharata, because it has such emotional depth and impact that it could make an artist feel complete,” he said. “But that doesn’t mean I’m walking away from films after it.”

Earlier, on Raj Shamani’s podcast, Aamir had spoken about the scale and emotional richness of Mahabharata, calling it a story that mirrors every aspect of life. He said the project is close to his heart and described it as “a film that could make one feel fulfilled.” Still, he added, “I hope I die with my shoes on,” underscoring his commitment to acting for as long as he can.

In the meantime, Khan is preparing for the release of his next film, Sitaare Zameen Par, scheduled to hit theatres on June 20. Directed by RS Prasanna and co-starring Genelia Deshmukh, the emotional drama is expected to offer a fresh and heartfelt narrative. Despite being advised to take on an action film, Aamir chose this more intimate story, once again proving his focus remains on impactful cinema rather than public perception.
