In Bihar’s Gaya, agitators set fire to several coaches of the Shramjeevi Express train on Wednesday as part of the protest by job seekers and students.
The Rajgir-New Delhi Shramjeevi express train was diverted towards Gaya after protests broke out at Patna, Arrah, and Buxar. The train eventually reached Mugal Sarai, then continued towards New Delhi.
As the Shramjeevi Express approached, the protesters threw stones and then set some coaches on fire. Many protesters held tricolors while standing around the track in the Patna-Gaya section.
The incident has been confirmed by Aditya Kumar, senior superintendent of police in Gaya.
As a result of stone-pelting and fire set on the train, Kumar and his colleagues are trying to identify the agitators through video evidence.
In a loudspeaker appeal, RRB spokesman said, “we called upon the agitating students to stay calm.” He constituted a committee to investigate the matter.
Students also attended the assembly in Sasaram, Bhabhua Road, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Buxar, Arrah, Patna, Vaishali, and many other places.
There were three injuries reported among the agitators in Madhubani after the police administration opened fire on them.
Students have put railway lines on the rails at Dalsinghsarai railway station in Samastipur by removing one-way connecting plates.
Indian Railways issued a fresh notification in which two examinations were finalized, causing trouble for Indian students and job aspirants.
The agitators say that there was only one examination in the previous notification in 2019, but now the RRB has announced that there will be two exams, as well as the provision for two exams. The officials are also thought to have been involved in irregularities with the candidates getting 50 marks and failing while many of the candidates with 80-85 marks failed.
