Ingredients:
- 2 lbs lamb, cut into pieces
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 teaspoons Kashmiri chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 cups water
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions, garlic, and ginger; sauté until onions are golden.
- Add lamb pieces and brown on all sides.
- Mix in all the spices except garam masala, and stir well.
- Reduce heat to low, add yogurt, and mix thoroughly. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add water, cover, and simmer for 1-2 hours or until lamb is tender.
- Stir in garam masala and simmer for another 10 minutes.
- Garnish with cilantro and serve with basmati rice or naan.
