Early evidence suggests the attack was targeted. Peel police said several shots were fired at the victim’s vehicle before the suspects fled the area. No information on the number of suspects or their possible direction of travel has been released. Detectives are working to gather surveillance footage from the mall and speak with potential witnesses who may have been in the parking lot at the time.

The section of the parking lot in front of Shoppers World remained taped off Monday night as officers collected evidence and documented the scene. The mall remained open, but police restricted access to the affected area while the investigation continued. Heavy police presence was visible throughout the evening.

Peel Regional Police are asking anyone with information, dashcam video or cell phone footage from the area to contact investigators. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers. Officers say public assistance will be critical as they work to determine what led to the deadly shooting and identify those responsible.
