A recent demonstration outside a Hindu temple in Brampton has drawn attention to growing concerns about religious tensions and the limits of protest activity near places of worship. Community leaders at the temple say they appreciated the presence of police during the event but remain troubled by what they described as disruptive noise and intimidation.

The protest took place outside Brampton Triveni Mandir on Chinguacousy Road near Queen Street West and was organized by Sikhs for Justice. According to the temple’s board of directors, officers from Peel Regional Police maintained a controlled perimeter during the demonstration and ensured protesters remained at a designated distance from the property.

Temple representatives said the use of loudspeakers and megaphones during the gathering created ongoing disturbances despite the physical separation enforced by police. In a statement released following the protest, the board expressed concern that noise from the demonstration continued to affect those inside the temple and surrounding community members.

Protesters gathered for roughly two hours and displayed flags associated with Khalistan. Reports indicate the event remained peaceful and no arrests were made. Police presence helped maintain order throughout the demonstration.

Temple officials emphasized that while they respect the right to peaceful protest, they believe stronger enforcement of bylaws related to buffer zones around religious institutions may be necessary. They said ensuring safety and minimizing disruption around places of worship remains essential as communities work to maintain harmony in Brampton’s diverse environment.
