Sheila Malcolmson, British Columbia’s minister of mental health and addictions, announces the provincial government is investing $132 million over three years to strengthen substance-use treatment and recovery services in communities. She is joined at the news conference outside St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver by Fiona Dalton (president and CEO, Providence Health Care), Dr. Patricia Daly (chief medical health officer, Vancouver Coastal Health) and Mark Haggerty (peer navigator, Rapid Access Addiction Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital). The funding is part of the government’s $500-million investment from the 2021 budget focused on building a comprehensive mental health system.
