Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has revealed adjustments to certain permanent residence (PR) fees, slated to take effect from 9:00:00 AM Eastern Time on April 30, 2024. The fee modifications are in accordance with Canada’s Immigrant and Refugee Protection Regulations, linked to the Consumer Price Index for Canada.
Details of the Fee Adjustments:
- The Right of Permanent Residence Fee for principal applicants and accompanying spouses or common-law partners will increase from $515 to $575.
- Fees for various immigration programs, including the Federal Skilled Workers, Provincial Nominee Program, Quebec Skilled Workers, and others, will witness increments for principal applicants, accompanying spouses or common-law partners, and dependent children.
- Business immigration fees for federal and Quebec programs will also see an increase for principal applicants, accompanying spouses or common-law partners, and dependent children.
- Family reunification sponsorship fees and fees for sponsored principal applicants, accompanying family members, protected persons, and individuals under humanitarian and compassionate consideration or public policy categories are among those affected by the fee adjustments.
Exemptions and Additional Notes:
- Certain categories of applicants, such as sponsored children under 22 years old and principal applicants under humanitarian and compassionate consideration or public policy classes, are exempt from the Right of Permanent Residence Fee.
- Permit holder class applicants cannot include accompanying family members in their PR applications; each individual must submit their own application as a principal applicant.
These fee adjustments aim to maintain the integrity of Canada’s immigration system while ensuring sustainable processing and service delivery.
