Classic Canadian Butter Tarts Recipe

  1. Ingredients:

    • 1 ½ cups brown sugar

    • ½ cup corn syrup

    • 2 eggs

    • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

    • 1 tsp vanilla extract

    • 1 cup raisins or chopped pecans (optional)

    • 12 unbaked tart shells

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

    2. In a bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs, butter, and vanilla until smooth.

    3. Stir in raisins or pecans if using.

    4. Place the tart shells on a baking tray. Pour filling evenly into each shell, filling about two-thirds full.

    5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the filling is bubbling and the pastry is golden.

    6. Let cool before removing from the tray. Serve slightly warm or fully cooled.
