Ingredients:
- 1 cup toor dal (split pigeon peas)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 2 medium tomatoes (chopped)
- 2 green chilies (slit)
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 2 dried red chilies
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander for garnish
Instructions:
- Wash and pressure cook dal with turmeric and 3 cups of water until soft.
- In a pan, heat ghee and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and dried red chilies. Let them splutter.
- Add onions, green chilies, and ginger-garlic paste. Sauté until golden.
- Add tomatoes, cook until soft, and mix into the cooked dal. Add salt and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with rice or naan.
