Dal Tadka Delight: A Comforting Indian Lentil Dish Made Easy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup toor dal (split pigeon peas)
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 2 medium tomatoes (chopped)
  • 2 green chilies (slit)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 dried red chilies
  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Wash and pressure cook dal with turmeric and 3 cups of water until soft.
  2. In a pan, heat ghee and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and dried red chilies. Let them splutter.
  3. Add onions, green chilies, and ginger-garlic paste. Sauté until golden.
  4. Add tomatoes, cook until soft, and mix into the cooked dal. Add salt and simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with rice or naan.
