DATE ANNOUNCED FOR THE INQUEST INTO THE DEATH OF DREW PEARSON

Ministry of the Solicitor GeneralDr. Elizabeth Urbantke, Regional Supervising Coroner, West Region, London
Office, announced today that a date has been scheduled for the inquest into the
death of Drew Pearson. The inquest will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 25,
2026. Dr. David Eden will be the presiding officer and Indira Stewart will be
the inquest counsel.
Mr. Pearson, 29 years old, died in hospital on December 27, 2018, after being
transferred from the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre in London.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Pearson’s death. The
jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
The inquest is expected to last eight days and hear from approximately 10
witnesses.
