A man who allegedly crossed the Canada-U.S. border in Surrey, B.C., without stopping on Sunday morning has been apprehended, authorities confirmed.
The Canada Border Services Agency alerted local police around 8:45 a.m. that a white pickup truck with Washington state license plates had entered Canada illegally. According to a statement from the Surrey Police Service (SPS), the vehicle bypassed the border crossing without stopping.
Shortly afterward, a truck matching the description was spotted driving erratically on King George Boulevard near 64 Street, weaving into oncoming traffic. SPS officers successfully stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was the sole occupant of the truck.
While the incident caused vehicle damage, no injuries were reported to officers, the suspect, or other road users, the SPS confirmed. Photos from the scene show the truck surrounded by police vehicles, having crashed through a guardrail and landed in a shallow ditch.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information or video footage to contact them at 604-599-0502.
