In an extraordinary claim that has captivated both believers and skeptics alike, Haim Eshed, the former head of Israel’s Defense Ministry’s space directorate, said Earth has long been in contact with extraterrestrial life—and that world leaders, including former U.S. President Donald Trump, are well aware of it.

In an interview with Israel’s Yediot Aharonot, Eshed, a respected professor and retired general, stated that a “galactic federation” of alien civilizations has been interacting with humanity but has chosen to remain hidden until humans are “ready to understand” what space and advanced extraterrestrial technologies truly are.

“The UFOs have asked not to publish that they are here because humanity is not yet ready,” Eshed said. He also claimed there is an underground base on Mars jointly operated by American astronauts and alien beings, and that formal agreements exist between the U.S. government and extraterrestrial visitors to conduct experiments on Earth.

Eshed alleged that Trump had considered revealing the existence of this interstellar alliance but was convinced not to in order to avoid causing mass hysteria. “They have been waiting for humanity to evolve and reach a stage where we will grasp the concept of space and spaceships,” he said.

While the White House and Israeli officials declined to comment, NASA reiterated that its mission includes the search for extraterrestrial life but that there is no confirmed evidence so far.

Eshed has expanded on these revelations in a book titled The Universe Beyond the Horizon, written in collaboration with author Hagar Yanai. He said he chose to speak out now because public attitudes have shifted and society is more open to discussions about extraterrestrial life.

“If I had said this five years ago, I would have been hospitalized,” Eshed remarked. “Today, the conversation is different. I’ve earned my credentials. I have nothing to lose.”

Reactions to the interview have ranged from ridicule to curiosity. Social media lit up with parody accounts claiming to represent the Galactic Federation, while Nick Pope, a former UFO investigator for the U.K.’s Ministry of Defence, called Eshed’s comments “extraordinary” but added that major questions remain unanswered.

“Either this is a publicity stunt, or someone with inside knowledge has decided it’s time the public knew,” Pope said. “But there are still missing pieces to this story.”

As wild as the claims may sound, they’ve reignited global interest in the age-old question: Are we alone in the universe—or are we simply not ready for the truth?
