TORONTO: The 13th annual ‘Give A Heart’ gala, organized by the Amar Karma Health and Wellness Awareness Network, will be held on February 4, 2023, at Speranza Banquet Hall from 6 pm onward.
This year’s ‘Give A Heart’ gala theme is Gratitude, Resilience and Diversity, dedicating it to the positivity we as a community exhibited and emerged from COVID.
The ‘Give a Heart’ gala each year:
• Highlights newer ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day
• Eloquently promotes social causes with the involvement of youth
• Offers a platform for youth to learn, practice, and perform their skills
• Promotes Health and Wellness, raises awareness about Organ & Tissue Donation, Cord Blood Donation, Disability/Accessibility/Mental health, Environment, and causes that matter through creative ways such as skits
• Celebrates Multiculturalism and Diversity
Through the organization’s efforts to foster the most straightforward ideas of giving back to young minds, the gala is also a platform for youth to exhibit their talents, such as public speaking, art, and culture. Along with live entertainment by Amar Karma volunteers, ‘Give a Heart’ is an event that celebrates the organization’s accomplishments and recognizes its team members who work tirelessly in contributing to the promotion of overall wellness within society.
Amar Karma Organ Donation Society is Canada’s first South Asian non-profit organization that has pledged to create awareness in imperative need of organ donation to ensure that organs for transplant will be available to those who are on the waiting list to receive a call from ‘life’.
After extensive research about a shortage of organs and tissue for transplant, Amar Karma Organ Donation Society was founded in 2008 by Loveen Gill to raise awareness about the critical need to be registered donors mainly among South Asian Community, now extended to different communities.
Amar means Eternal, and Karma stands for “Deeds or actions” Loveen Gill sought this name to be powerful to resonate with the minds of the community for their firm belief in Karma, and organ donation being an action that leaves footprints even after we pass on.
The group started with one pioneer member and now has hundreds of volunteers who have chosen to be part of the Karma that speaks to entire humanity.
