Soft, syrupy, and golden-brown, Gulab Jamuns are the ultimate Diwali sweet. Made from khoya and soaked in fragrant rose syrup, they embody the sweetness of the festival.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup khoya (grated)

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tbsp milk (or as needed)

  • Oil for frying

  • For syrup: 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, 1 tsp rose water, 3 cardamoms

Instructions:

  1. Mix khoya, flour, and soda into a soft dough using milk.

  2. Shape into small balls without cracks.

  3. Heat oil on low flame and fry until golden.

  4. Prepare syrup by boiling sugar and water with cardamom for 5 minutes.

  5. Add rose water and soak fried jamuns for at least 30 minutes before serving.
