Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup basmati rice
  • 1 liter full-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 10-12 cashews and almonds (chopped)
  • 8-10 raisins
  • A few saffron strands (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash rice and soak for 20 minutes. Drain.
  2. Boil milk in a heavy-bottomed pan, then add rice and simmer on low heat.
  3. Stir frequently to prevent sticking, cooking until rice is soft and the milk thickens.
  4. Add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron (if using). Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Garnish with nuts and raisins. Serve warm or chilled as a dessert.
