Newly released federal filings from the U.S. Department of Labor offer a rare inside look at what major tech companies are paying their employees — and the numbers confirm that six-figure salaries remain the norm across much of the industry, with some roles reaching nearly half a million dollars a year.
The data comes from thousands of H-1B visa applications submitted in 2025, which list base annual salaries for foreign workers in specialized roles. While these filings don’t include bonuses, stock grants or other perks, they paint a clear picture of compensation at companies including Apple, Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Disney, Walmart and more.
According to the filings, Microsoft pays software engineers between US$82,971 and US$284,000. Google pays the same role between US$109,180 and US$340,000, while Meta offers anywhere from US$120,000 up to an eye-popping US$480,000 in base salary.
Other major employers show equally striking numbers. Amazon’s AWS division pays software engineers up to US$185,000, while Palantir offers US$155,000 to US$240,000. Below is a breakdown of what top companies are paying across a range of roles.
