Building Homes and Skills

At the heart of the package is a massive commitment to social housing. By financing the construction of affordable units, India is helping Seychelles address its critical housing shortage.

  • Vocational Training: A significant portion of the funds will establish new training centers to equip the youth with skills in technology and modern trades.
  • Capacity Building: An MoU was also signed to train Seychelles’ civil servants in India, fostering a shared administrative culture.

Greening the Indian Ocean: E-Mobility and Health

India is exporting its green energy successes as part of this deal. The package includes:

  • E-Mobility: Investment in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure to reduce the island nation’s reliance on costly fossil fuel imports.
  • Healthcare Infrastructure: Direct funding for the renovation of hospitals and the donation of 10 specialized ambulances to bolster emergency services.

The Security Pillar

As part of the MAHASAGAR vision (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across the Region), maritime security remains a top priority.

A Partnership “Beyond Diplomacy”

“The ties between India and Seychelles are not limited to diplomatic contact,” Prime Minister Modi stated during the joint press meet. “The waves of the Indian Ocean have connected our people for centuries.”

This package is unique because it combines direct grants, lines of credit, and technical expertise, ensuring that the projects are not just funded but successfully implemented.
