India has sent a powerful message to Pakistan and the global community by launching a direct assault on key terror command centers deep inside Pakistani territory. Government sources, speaking to NDTV, emphasized that this time, India went after the “head of the snake” instead of merely targeting foot soldiers, signaling a bold new approach in counter-terrorism operations.
The strikes, part of the recently launched Operation Sindoor, were carried out on May 7 in response to the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 tourists lost their lives. In a meticulously coordinated assault, Indian Armed Forces launched precision missile strikes on nine high-value terror facilities—four located within Pakistan, including major hubs in Bahawalpur and Muridke, and five in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, such as Muzaffarabad and Kotli.
These facilities were described as strategic headquarters for Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, terror groups notorious for orchestrating past attacks such as the Pulwama convoy bombing in 2019 and the Mumbai attacks in 2008. The strikes followed Pakistan’s attempted drone attacks on multiple Indian cities in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab on May 8 and 9, which were successfully intercepted by India’s air defense systems.
Speaking to NDTV, sources underlined that India’s action reflected a clear doctrinal shift, with the Indian military penetrating deep into Pakistan’s territory, ignoring traditional red lines such as the Line of Control and even the international border. The Indian leadership, according to these sources, has made it clear that neither the LoC, the international boundary, nor Pakistan’s nuclear deterrence can be used as shields for terror operations on Indian soil.
India’s response, the source said, was a calibrated exercise in deterrence, ensuring visible and targeted consequences for any state-sponsored terrorism. They further revealed that several high-ranking terrorists, including individuals on India’s most wanted list, were neutralized in the strikes, significantly crippling the leadership of key terror modules in a single night.
Operation Sindoor, according to officials, represents India’s resolve to act decisively against terrorism without waiting for diplomatic permissions or being constrained by geopolitical fears. The operation, they asserted, sets a new precedent that terrorism as a state policy will no longer go unanswered and that its masterminds have nowhere left to hide.
