INQUEST INTO THE DEATH OF ROBERT SHANE RHODES ANNOUNCED

Ministry of the Solicitor GeneralDr. Harry Voogjarv, Regional Supervising Coroner, North Region, Sudbury Office,
announced today that an inquest will be held into the death of Robert Shane
Rhodes.
Mr. Rhodes, 49 years old, died on April 20, 2020, following an interaction with
Ontario Provincial Police officers at Elliot Lake Probation and Parole Office.
An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Rhodes’ death. The
jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
Further details regarding the inquest, including the date and venue, will be
provided at a later date.
