Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) didn’t just dominate Punjab Kings on the field—they won the internet too. Following their emphatic seven-wicket victory in Mullanpur on Sunday, RCB’s social media team pulled out all the stops to troll their rivals with a cheeky throwback involving none other than Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
Shortly after sealing the win, RCB’s official X (formerly Twitter) account dug up an 11-year-old tweet from Salman Khan where he asked, “Zinta’s team won kya?”—a nod to Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta. RCB cheekily quote-posted it with the caption: “Sorry bhai, not today.” The post instantly went viral, with fans applauding the team’s playful banter.
But RCB didn’t stop there. They followed up with another jab, sharing a video of Virat Kohli and captioning it: “Every masterpiece has a copy. Stick to the original. Enjoy.” The dig was aimed directly at PBKS, who had previously mocked Kohli’s iconic dance celebration in a post after their win over RCB earlier this season.
While RCB’s social media had fans entertained, their on-field performance was equally commanding. Chasing 158, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal stitched together a 103-run stand, dismantling the Punjab attack with style. Padikkal, finding form after a lean patch, smashed 61 off 35 balls, while Kohli remained unbeaten on 73 off 54, guiding RCB home with 7 balls to spare.
Earlier, Punjab’s promising start was derailed by RCB’s spinners, Krunal Pandya (2/25) and Suyash Sharma (2/26), who choked the middle overs and sparked a collapse. PBKS never regained momentum and finished at 157/6.
The win helped RCB climb back into the top four, while also delivering a masterclass in digital clapbacks. Between clever trolling and clinical cricket, RCB proved they came prepared for both the scoreboard and the scroll feed.
