Dr. Azad Kumar Kaushik, President, National Alliance of Indo-Canadians, was honoured with sixth ‘Bharat Gaurav Award’ on April 13, 2018, at the House of Commons, London, UK, by the Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha in recognition of his lifetime achievements to promote Indian culture and civilization, and making scientific discovery of unique cow antibodies relevant to prevention of diseases.
Mr. Suresh Mishra read the citation highlighting achievements of Dr. Kaushik recognizing him as one of the iconic personalities who has made a significant mark in his sphere of work and influence. Baroness Verma, House of Lords, presented the award comprising a
plaque and medal, along with a host of dignitaries including Indian Deputy High Commissioner Dinesh K. Patnaik.
A coffee table book highlighting contributions of all the awardees was released on the occasion. The award ceremony was remarkably graceful where Who’s Who of British of Indian origin participated. It was for the first time that a Canadian was honored with ‘Bharat Gaurav Award’. Dr. Kaushik stated, “I am humbled by the recognition, which is indeed a recognition of the vibrant Indo-Canadian community.”
Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha (SYS) pioneered the “Bharat Gaurav Award” in 2012 to felicitate people with extraordinary excellence in their fields and make India proud. Some of the past awardees include Manoj Kumar, Subhash Chandra, and Kalpna Chawla among others. For over 21 years, SYS has promoted Indian Culture and Civilization globally through series of innovative social programs.
The organization is known for organizing ‘The Grand Jaipur Marathon’ for the last 9 years. The Sports carnival is attended by thousands of participants from all over the world. At the time of drought in Rajasthan, SYS helped the needy under a special mission ‘AKAAL KA ILAAJ EK MUTTHI ANAJ’ and bridged the gap between the haves and have-nots.
