A significant drug bust is being carried out Wednesday morning by more than 300 police officers from Quebec and certain areas of Ontario.
According to a press statement from Montreal police, a dozen searchers were active as of 6:30 a.m. across Montreal, Lanaudiere, Mauricie, the Laurentians, and Ontario.
According to the press release, “this morning, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal’s (SPVM) organised crime section disrupted a significant synthetic drug production and distribution network.”
A 2021 SPVM investigation that turned up drug manufacture in Montreal, Quebec City, and the North Shore led to the raids.
The Ontario Provincial Police and the Sûreté du Québec are assisting the operation.
A revised report from the SPVM will be made available later on Wednesday.
