Ingredients:
- 1 cup red lentils (masoor dal)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 medium tomato, chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- ½ tsp chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Rinse and boil the red lentils with turmeric and salt until they are soft. Set aside.
- Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they sizzle, add chopped onions and sauté until golden.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute. Stir in tomatoes and chili powder. Cook until tomatoes are soft and oil separates.
- Pour this tadka over the cooked dal and mix well. Garnish with fresh coriander.
- Serve with steamed rice or chapati.
