Introducing the Jetour T2, a new SUV from China that boldly combines design elements from the upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser and the current Land Rover Defender. With its striking resemblance to these iconic vehicles—particularly the taillights and tailgate—it’s clear that the Jetour T2 draws inspiration from some of the best in the off-road world.
Under the hood, the T2 is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine that delivers 181bhp and 214lb-ft of torque, channeled to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It’s no slouch on the road either, with a top speed of 112mph. The intelligent drivetrain offers flexibility, allowing drivers to switch between two and four-wheel drive and choose from six different driving modes, including a ‘creeping’ mode for slow, controlled driving. The SUV also features independent McPherson strut suspension both front and rear, enhancing its off-road capabilities.
However, there’s a trade-off when it comes to interior quality. The cabin boasts a 15.6-inch infotainment screen powered by a Smartdragon processing chip, partial ambient lighting, and neatly arranged controls on the center console. There’s even a quirky lightning pattern on the passenger side of the dashboard, though its novelty might wear off quickly. Despite these features, the overall cabin design doesn’t quite match the appeal of its exterior.
The most surprising aspect of the Jetour T2? Its price. In China, the T2 starts at just under £16,000—a bargain compared to vehicles like the Vauxhall Corsa in the UK. Unfortunately, Jetour has not announced plans to bring the T2 to Britain, but if they ever do, it could offer a compelling and affordable alternative in the SUV market.
