Peel Regional Police have charged two brothers from Mississauga after investigators uncovered what they describe as an organized vehicle theft operation. Officers say the investigation led to the recovery of 13 stolen vehicles worth more than $800,000 and resulted in dozens of criminal charges.
The case began in October 2025 as police started examining a series of vehicle thefts believed to be connected to a coordinated criminal group operating in the region. The investigation continued for several months and concluded in early March 2026 when officers executed search warrants at two homes in Mississauga.
Police arrested Sulman Dar, 28, and Shahroz Dar, 24, during the operation. According to investigators, both men were already under court ordered release conditions related to earlier robbery and property crime allegations when they were taken into custody.
Sulman Dar is facing a total of 47 charges. These include 24 counts of possession of property obtained by crime and 23 counts of failing to comply with a release order. Shahroz Dar faces seven charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, and failure to comply with a release order. Both suspects were held in custody pending bail hearings.
Investigators say the arrests are part of a broader effort by Peel Regional Police to address organized auto theft networks operating in the Greater Toronto Area. Police say the stolen vehicles recovered during the investigation were linked to a series of thefts carried out across the region.
Deputy Chief Marc Andrews said in a statement that vehicle theft continues to be a major policing priority. He emphasized that organized crime groups targeting local communities for profit will be identified and dismantled through ongoing enforcement operations.
Peel police say their intensified efforts appear to be having an impact. Authorities report that auto theft incidents in the region have dropped by nearly 15 percent so far in 2026 compared with the same period last year.
Police are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact Peel Regional Police or submit tips anonymously through Peel Crime Stoppers.
