MISSISSAUGA: For the sixth year in a row, Site Selection magazine has ranked the City of Mississauga’s Economic Development Office (EDO) in the top 20 local and regional groups who work to position their municipalities as one of Canada’s Best Locations.
The ranking is based on corporate end-user facility investment, job creation data and the magazine’s own research.
“Our consistent top ranking demonstrates that Mississauga is an economic engine for the province and the country. We remain a prime location for business and investment, and our pathway to recovery is paved in strong economic growth and responsible spending,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “Our Economic Development team has done an outstanding job in creating an environment where businesses of all sizes can grow, scale and thrive.”
The 2022 results are based on data from January 2021 to June 2022, including:
- The number of new facilities and expansions per capita
- Project capital investment per capita
- Job creation per capita
- Subjective analyses of website resources, programming and outreach efforts
“Receiving this recognition from Site Selection validates that we are doing the right things to attract and support the growth and longevity of businesses,” said Bonnie Brown, Director, Economic Development. “The Economic Development team, with the support of Council, remains committed to providing our business community with the programs and resources needed, while continuing to build upon our strategic priorities.”
