Toronto: The Nepalese Literary Society Canada last week observed “Holi”, a festival of colors symbolizing onset of spring, family, fun and moreover victory of good over evil.
Speaking at the program litterateur Dr. Govind Singh Rawat elucidated about the history of the festival and threw light on the need of organizing cultural event to let the young generation know and experience their culture.
Right after the speech Mr. Gopikrishna Kafle, Mr. Sisir Pandey and Mr. Khem Koirala recited ironical poems creating an ambience of humor among the guests where as local artists Sirin Guragain, Biswa Berma, Bidur K.C., Uttam Makaju, Pradeep Banskota entertained the guests by singing Holi songs, folk songs and flute instrumental.
Delivering thank you addresses, Nepalese Literary Society Canada’s President Khem Guragain thanked all for their generous support to make the event happen in grand manner. Mr. Guragain also informed about the “2nd North American Cross Border Poetry Meet” to be held in Niagara Falls on July 16, 2022. At the end of the program guests were served with typical Nepali food followed by open floor dance.
Nepalese community members residing around Toronto thronged this Holi event with unbounded enthusiasm.The program was conducted by General Secretary Mohan Kharel where as event logistics were looked after by Anupa Neupane.
