Brampton: Canadian Newa Guthi recently organized “Meet & Greet ” program on the occasion of Nepali new year 2079.
Speaking at the program, Guthi’s President Prakash Pradhan expressed his happiness on being able to organize the event in person and wished all a peaceful, progressive and prosperous new year. Guthi’s General Secretary Bimal Shrestha welcomed all the guests and said that Guthi is planning to launch Nepalbhasa language class .
Speaking about the Guthi’s activities, Vice President Uttam Makaju disseminated that Guthi’s programs are mostly based on three categories like Newah culture promotion, community based and activities associated with Canadian main stream.
Makaju also appealed all to continue their valuable support to scale Guthi’s height further. Guthi’s Cultural Secretary Surendra Lal Shrestha thanked all for the dedication and support to make the program a grand success.
In the cultural segment of the program, executive member Ranjana Sainju and Dr. Amar Sainju renditioned “Basanta dhoon” instrumental on Sitar, where as Preeti Koju, Krishna Maharjan, Karisha Maharjan and Rajendra Maharjan performed various kinds of Newah ethnic dances.
Similarly, other artists entertained the guests by singing songs. One of the attractions of the program was that most of the children along with their parents showed up with Newah ethnic attire.
