As tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate, the Odisha government has heightened security across the state’s key coastal and strategic installations. Paradip Port in Jagatsinghpur district has been placed on high alert, with restricted access to certain zones and intensified surveillance measures. The movement of incoming vessels is being closely monitored, and security forces have been reinforced at critical points around the port.

Authorities have implemented a three-layered security system at Hirakud Dam in Sambalpur, while special attention is being paid to religious and tourist sites, particularly the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. Puri Superintendent of Police Vinit Agrawal confirmed that patrols have been increased around the temple, with additional personnel deployed at all entry points. Anti-sabotage teams are conducting regular checks, and a Quick Response Team (QRT) is on standby.

The temple’s elevated security follows a recent audit by the National Security Guard (NSG), which recommended additional safety protocols for high-footfall religious sites. In response, Odisha officials have ensured heavy deployment of security forces to protect devotees and temple property.

Elsewhere in the state, the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Balasore has also seen enhanced security arrangements, given its importance in India’s defense infrastructure. The state’s precautionary moves come as a broader nationwide effort is underway to fortify strategic sites amid cross-border hostilities.

Ports in neighboring West Bengal, including Kolkata and Haldia, have also increased their alert levels. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port issued a statement confirming that security has been raised to Level 2 as per orders from the Directorate General of Shipping. All personnel have been instructed to maintain a high level of vigilance and preparedness.
