The pilot will allocate 800 additional provincial nominations, with each region receiving 200 nominations through OINP’s Employer Job Offer streams. Successful applicants will be nominated for permanent residence, enabling them to apply directly to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The program targets in-demand sectors, including healthcare, technology, and skilled trades.
Applicants must meet the requirements of one of the three OINP Employer Job Offer streams and secure a qualifying job offer from a business within the designated regions.
The REDI Pilot builds on the success of the 2020 Regional Pilot, which addressed labor shortages in smaller communities like Chatham-Kent and Cornwall. With a focus on skilled newcomers, the OINP estimates this initiative could boost Ontario’s GDP by $100 billion over five years.
The REDI Pilot aligns with Canada’s broader Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) that aim to spread the benefits of immigration across rural and urban areas. These programs complement federal efforts, including the Rural Community Immigration Class and the Francophone Community Immigration Class, to promote economic and demographic growth in smaller communities.
By leveraging the REDI Pilot, Ontario is addressing critical labor shortages while offering skilled immigrants a pathway to settle in regions that benefit from their expertise and contributions.
