TORONTO: The City of Toronto’s Riverdale Farm and High Park Zoo officially reopened their outdoor grounds to visitors on Saturday.
The Province of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen allows for the reopening of some outdoor recreation amenities in Step One.
As part of the safe and gradual reopening, Toronto Parks, Forestry & Recreation staff have been preparing the grounds and the animals for the return of visitors to Riverdale Farm and High Park Zoo.
Riverdale Farm is home to domestic farm animals and representative of a turn-of-the-century Ontario farm. The farm is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free. Indoor attractions will not be open under current provincial restrictions.
The High Park Zoo is Toronto’s oldest zoo and is home to animals such as bison, llamas, highland cattle and reindeer. The High Park Zoo is open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and admission is free.
Reservations are not required but visitor capacity will be reduced to 15 per cent at both locations. Staff will be on-site to monitor the safe operation of these amenities, including one-way foot-traffic, physical distancing, fencing and signage to help control the pace and flow of visitors.
