In a troubling escalation along the Line of Control, Pakistani forces launched fresh cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district just after midnight, targeting civilian areas in the Karnah sector. This marks the second consecutive day of hostilities, following India’s military action under ‘Operation Sindoor’, which targeted alleged terror infrastructure across the border.

According to local officials, the shelling included mortar fire and aimed directly at civilian settlements. The Indian armed forces responded swiftly and effectively to the unprovoked attack, ensuring no further incursion or damage.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties. However, most residents in the Karnah region had already relocated to safer areas by Wednesday, anticipating further violence after Pakistan’s initial response to India’s military operation.

This ongoing exchange follows India’s offensive against terror-linked targets across the border earlier this week, which drew sharp reactions from Islamabad. Tensions remain high in the region, with both sides on heightened alert.
