Investigation Leads to Firearm and Drug Charges
Region of Peel – Officers from the Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP) team recover a loaded firearm and a quantity of drugs after a proactive investigation.
On Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 12:40 a.m., STEP officers investigated a motor vehicle in the parking lot of a complex located near Matheson Boulevard East and Satellite Drive in the City of Mississauga.
The lone occupant of the vehicle attempted to conceal a satchel while speaking to investigators. As a result of the investigation, Kevin Mayne, a 48-year-old man from Toronto was charged with the following:
Unauthorized possession of firearm Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm Tampering with serial number of firearm Possession of firearm contrary to order Possession for the purpose of trafficking Mayne’s firearm prohibition relates to previous convictions for assault and forcible confinement. He was transported to 12 Division and held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
