Peel Regional Police Lay Charges in $10 Million Retail Store Fire
Region of Peel -Peel Regional Police have charged an individual following a major fire at a retail store in the shopping mall near City Centre Drive and Square One Drive in the city of Mississauga.
On Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services (MFES), along with 11 division uniform patrol officers, responded to a call for a fire at a retail store in the City Centre Drive and Square One Drive area. The large fire was contained and extinguished by fire personnel.
Investigators from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau began their investigation after being contacted MFES regarding the blaze due to its suspicious nature.
No physical injuries were reported. However, the damage to the store, its inventory, and lost revenue is estimated to exceed $10 million. The scene remains under police control while the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) investigates further.
Wyatt Diamond-Harbour, a 29-year-old man of no fixed address, has been charged with the following:
Arson Causing Damage to Property
Breach of Probation Order
Diamond-Harbour was held pending a bail hearing.
Peel Regional Police take incidents of arson and breaches of public safety very seriously. This investigation is ongoing, and police continue to work closely with fire officials and other partners to ensure a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding this incident.
