Proactive Enforcement Leads to Multiple Arrests & Firearm Seizures
Region of Peel —Officers from the Strategic and Tactical Enforcement Policing Unit (STEP) have seized two firearms and laid multiple firearm-related charges after two separate proactive investigations in Mississauga.
On Friday, April 25, 2025, at 10:25 p.m., police investigated a vehicle in the area of Shawson Drive and Atlantic Drive in Mississauga. As a result, a firearm was seized, and the following two individuals were arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
Vincent Chang, a 29-year-old man from Newmarket was charged with:
Possession of Controlled Substance – Schedule I Cocaine
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm
Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
Tampering with Serial Number
Hidaya Bouzrara, a 23-year-old man from Toronto was charged with:
Possession of Controlled Substance – Schedule I Cocaine
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm
Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
Tampering with Serial Number
Both parties were held pending a bail hearing.
On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:47 p.m., police investigated a vehicle in the area of Torbram Road and Drew Road in Mississauga. As a result, a firearm was seized, and an individual was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
Jae-Quonne Hamilton, a 24-year-old man from Toronto was charged with:
Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Order
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
Carrying Concealed Weapon
He was held pending a bail hearing.
At the time of his arrest, Hamilton was breaching a firearms prohibition.
