Suspicious Vehicle Call Leads to Firearm and Drug Seizure

Region of Peel – Officers from 12 Division have arrested and charged two individuals after a suspicious vehicle call led to the seizure of a firearm and illegal drugs in Mississauga.

On Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at approximately 11:07 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Sardis Crescent and Lee Drive in Mississauga. As officers arrived, their patrol car was struck by the subject vehicle. Officers successfully pinned the vehicle and arrested the driver. The passenger attempted to flee but was arrested following a foot pursuit. During the chase, it is alleged that the passenger discarded a firearm.

As a result of this investigation, police seized a loaded 9mm Glock 48 handgun as well as large quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl.

The driver, Omar Camara, a 22-year-old man from Toronto, and the passenger, a male youth, were both held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. They have been charged with the following:

Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon

Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Carless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition

Dangerous Operation

Trafficking in a Controlled Substance

Trafficking – Opioid

Flight From Peace Officer

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person and, therefore, the identities of the Young Persons charged in this investigation are protected.
