Traffic Stop Leads to Firearm Seizure
Region of Peel – Officers from the Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP) team located a loaded firearm and laid numerous firearm-related charges after conducting a traffic stop in Mississauga.
On Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at approximately 6:27 p.m., officers from the STEP team were conducting proactive patrol in the area of City Centre Drive and Hurontario Street in Mississauga. During the investigation, officers located and seized a loaded Glock 23 gen 4 (.40 S&W) firearm.
Nathanyal-Xavier Bell, a 22-year-old man of no-fixed address was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition x 2
Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
Carry Concealed Weapon
Nathanyal-Xavier was also arrested and charged for the following offences under the Cannabis Control Act and Liquor Licence Act:
Drive Motor Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor
Nathanyal-Xavier was held pending a lengthy bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
