Traffic Stop Leads to Firearms Seized and Multiple Arrests

Region of Peel – Officers from 12 Division Patrol and the Criminal Investigations Bureau have laid several charges following a traffic stop in Mississauga.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, shortly after 4:00 a.m., a 12 Division patrol officer stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act Investigation. It was determined the driver was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant and taken into custody. Officers subsequently located two illegal handguns during the investigation; one of which was loaded and concealed on one of the passengers.

A total of four individuals were arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

The Driver, 22-year-old Justin Salmon of Brampton has been charged with:

Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence

Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Adrian Gregory, 22-years-old from Brampton has been charged with:

Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Kerrick Campbell-Reid, 23-years-old from Ridgeway (Niagara) has been charged with:

Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized

Benjamin Jaramillo, 22-years-old from Thornhill has been charged with:

Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm

Two illegal 9mm Glock 19 handguns, one of which was equipped with an extended magazine loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition, the other modified to fire automatically, were seized.

None of the individuals were lawfully permitted to own firearms.

“This is a prime example of the importance of proactive police work and the impact it has on our community’s safety. Thanks to these patrol officers, two illegal firearms are out of the hands of criminals and cannot be used to victimize members of our community. A job well done!” – Deputy Chief of Police Marc Andrews.
