Traffic Stop Yields Loaded Firearm
Region of Peel – Officers from the Airport Division have arrested and charged two individuals for various firearm related offences.
On Friday, October 11, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Airport Division officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Derry Road East and Torbram Road in the city of Mississauga. As a result, both occupants were taken into custody and a loaded .38 calibre revolver was located and seized.
Kendall Saunders, a 24-year-old man from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, who was out on parole under a lifetime weapons prohibition, has been charged with the following criminal offences:
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm
Possession of Firearm
Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Malai Atkinson, a 24-year-old woman from Richmond Hill, was charged with the following criminal offences:
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There Was a Firearm
Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Possession of a Controlled Substance
They were both held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
