Peel police are investigating a fatal stabbing in Brampton that left an 18-year-old man dead following a violent altercation inside an apartment building late Thursday night. Officers were called to a residential lobby near McMurchy Avenue and Pagebrook Court around 10 p.m. after reports of a disturbance, Const. Tyler Bell-Morena told CBC News.

When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional injuries were reported. According to police, the lobby area was crowded and chaotic at the time of the incident, creating challenges for investigators attempting to determine how many suspects may have been involved and how they fled.

Detectives are now reviewing video footage from the building and gathering witness statements in an effort to piece together what happened. Bell-Morena urged anyone with information or evidence to contact police or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

A police presence will remain at the building as investigators continue to secure and process the scene.
