A shocking daylight auto theft has been captured on video, showing a suspect running over the vehicle’s owner in a luxury SUV theft near Toronto.
Peel Regional Police report that on Sept. 6, at approximately 2 p.m., a suspect, described as a five-foot-five South Asian woman, arrived at the victim’s residence near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Eglinton Avenue. The suspect was there to inquire about a 2022 Porsche Cayenne listed for sale on Auto Trader.
The video shows the suspect approaching the owner, stating, “I’m here for the Porsche.” She claims to be waiting for her father and asks to inspect the vehicle.
The footage then cuts to the suspect seated in the driver’s seat of the Porsche. As the victim closes the passenger door and moves around the front of the vehicle, the suspect suddenly reverses the car. The victim is carried along with the Porsche and appears to be run over by one of its rear wheels as the suspect flees the scene.
Police report that the victim sustained injuries, although the extent of the injuries remains undisclosed. An accomplice vehicle, described as a grey SUV, was also involved in the theft.
Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact Peel Regional Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
