BRAMPTON: The City of Brampton held a grand opening event of the Riverstone Community Centre on Monday.
The City of Brampton purchased the Riverstone Golf and Country Club in 2017. The building has been converted to a 34,000 square-foot recreation facility featuring an updated pool area, including a salt-water pool, expanded change rooms, fitness rooms and several multi-purpose rooms. The building has been open to the public for drop-in/try-it programs since July 6, 2022.
Residents can now enjoy programs including: Zumba™, Body Sculpt, Paint Pouring and Preschool Music and Movement. Riverstone’s numerous amenities include: banquet rooms, the fitness centre, saltwater pool, four squash courts, community rooms, lounges. an outdoor patio and much more.
Mayor Patrick Brown said: “We are excited to welcome residents to the grand opening of the Riverstone Community Centre! The facility has a lot to offer, whether it’s swimming, fitness, squash or using the multi-purpose rooms. ”
Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor, Wards 1 & 5; Chair, Community Services, said: “We encourage all residents to visit the City’s newest community centre.”
Marlon Kallideen, Commissioner, Community Services, added: “Brampton is a Healthy and Safe City with many opportunities for residents to keep active and have fun close to home. Our team in Community Services has worked hard behind the scenes for Riverstone’s Grand Opening.”
