Authorities in Los Angeles have arrested singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, on suspicion of murder in the case of a missing teenage girl whose remains were discovered inside a vehicle registered to him. Police confirmed the arrest as part of an ongoing homicide investigation involving 14 year old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department said Burke was taken into custody as detectives continue building a case connected to the discovery of the girl’s body inside a Tesla previously impounded after being left parked for several days in the Hollywood Hills area. Officials indicated the matter will now be reviewed by prosecutors at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, who will determine whether formal charges should proceed.
Burke’s legal team has denied the allegations and said he has not been formally charged. In a public statement, his lawyers said the available evidence will show he did not cause the teen’s death and emphasized that no indictment has yet been issued. They also said he is currently being detained only on suspicion while the investigation continues.
Court documents connected to a grand jury inquiry earlier this year described Burke as a target in the investigation and revealed that several of his family members were subpoenaed to testify. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle where the remains were discovered had been registered at the same address connected to those subpoenas. The victim had originally been reported missing in 2024 from Lake Elsinore, southeast of Los Angeles, before her body was located months later.
Investigators reported that the remains were found in a severely decomposed condition inside the Tesla after it was moved to an impound facility. Evidence recovered from the vehicle and from a nearby residence is continuing to undergo forensic analysis as detectives work to determine the timeline and circumstances surrounding the case. Police say the investigation remains active as they seek clarity and accountability for the victim and her family.
