The all-electric Smart #5 SUV is gearing up for its global debut later this month in Brisbane, Australia, with European availability slated for 2025. The mid-sized SUV stays true to the brand’s familiar boxy design, enhanced with rugged details that cater to the active lifestyle market—a new direction for the German automaker.
The official sketches reveal that the #5 closely resembles the earlier renders, featuring robust elements like a rear wing, elevated side skirts, and additional design accents along the sides. The SUV sits on large alloy wheels, shedding its all-terrain tires to present a sleek, urban-ready appearance.
Smart has hinted at a powerful battery configuration, likely exceeding 100kWh and paired with 800-volt technology. This setup could offer an impressive range of around 341 miles, with the ability to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes. While all-wheel drive is expected, specific performance details remain under wraps.
Inside, the #5’s concept features include dual OLED screens, a portable speaker in the center console, and a unique “zero-gravity front passenger seat.” However, it remains to be seen how many of these innovative touches will make it to the production model.
